Two earthquakes of 7.8 and 7.5 magnitudes hit South East Türkiye (Turkey).
On Monday 6th February, two enormous 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes struck the regions of South East Türkiye (Turkey). Approximately 30 million people have been affected by the disaster in Turkiye.
On 20th February, two more strong 6.4 and 5.8 earthquakes hit the region, just two weeks after the deadly earthquakes that have killed at least 51,000 people so far. Sayaban Welfare teams on the ground in southern Türkiye report widespread panic and damage to buildings.
Türkiye Earthquake: More than 51,000 people have been confirmed dead
A combined total of more than 51,000 people have already been confirmed dead across both Türkiye, and is continuing to rise as bodies are recovered from the rubble.
Provide a family with food (5 People) for the holy month of Ramadan for just £30
Provide a tent for a large family (5-6 People) as a temporary shelter to protect from the elements and provide relief for £300
Provide 37,000 litres of drinking water to a relief camp. Essential water that is desperately needed for £5000
Thousands are now displaced
Millions of internally displaced Syrians are living in camps, and those hit hard by the crisis are entirely reliant on international aid to assist with this emergency. In Türkiye, we have thousands of Turkish displaced and many Syrian refugees in the same state as those across the border in their homeland.
Freezing temperatures, shortages in fuel and electricity due to damaged infrastructure, limited supplies due to strained supply chains and more are hampering the efforts of search and rescue teams on the ground. Approximately 380,000 people have taken refuge in government shelters, shopping malls, community centres and even their cars to protect them from the cold.
