What does 'Sayaban' mean?

سائبان (Sayaban) is an Urdu word meaning 'canopy', 'shade', or 'umbrella'. Our mission is to 'Bring Poverty Into The Shade.'

Who is Sayaban Welfare?

Established in 2021, we are an Islamic charity providing essential aid to vulnerable communities. Our mission is to empower marginalized groups through education and vocational initiatives.

Where does Sayaban work?

We are a UK charity with global reach, currently active in the UK, India, Pakistan, Morocco, Turkey, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Malawi.

How do we create lasting change?

Through water systems and education, we aim to empower Zakat-recipients to eventually become Zakat-payers themselves.

What is Sadaqah?

A voluntary, spontaneous act of kindness with no fixed amount. It can be money, a smile, or providing food.

What is Zakat?

An obligatory Pillar of Islam involving the redistribution of 2.5% of one's wealth to assist the poor and orphans.

What is Lillah?

Voluntary charity directed toward a specific noble objective, such as building a mosque or school.

What is Sadaqah Jariyah?

'Continuous Charity' that keeps giving, such as building a well or school, providing rewards even after one has passed away.
